Area Overview
Central City is an award-winning world-class facility where you can work, shop and learn all under one roof. It is a mixed-use development combining 130 retail shops, restaurants and services, a 340,000 square foot Simon Fraser University Campus and a 550,000 square foot triple A office tower.
Central City is located in the downtown core of fastest growing city in British Columbia.
There are a significant number of major projects currently underway in our Primary Trading Area. There is a $500 million expansion underway for the Surrey Memorial Hospital (within 1km), a new $600 million RCMP Division “E” BC Headquarters to house over 2,700 members and support personnel (2km east), and Surrey’s new $30 million 75,000 SF Library will open this Fall. This Bing Thom creation is located half a block north of Central City. In March, the Mayor broke ground for the new 165,000 SF Surrey City Hall, which will be one block north of Central City and front on 104 Ave. The future Performing Arts Centre will be mid-block and will house a 1,600 seat theatre and a 250 studio theatre. These projects are estimated to cost $500 million and will be constructed over the next 5 years. The area directly north of Central City’s Office Plaza will be home to new facilities for SFU to compliment their campus currently located in Central City. Overall, these projects will accelerate the urbanization of our City Centre which will be complimented by private investment ie. a mixed use development comprises a convention centre, office towers, condo towers, retail, and a casino, has been announced beside the last station on the Skytrain line. (Half a block south-east.) Numerous residential towers surrounding Central City are under various stages of development that will increase the primary target market.
