Surrounding Central City, there are a significant number of capital projects completed and currently underway. New developments that are open to the public include the expansion of Surrey Memorial Hospital, Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre,the new RCMP Headquarters that houses over 2,700 members and support personnel, Surrey’s new 77,000 square foot City Centre Library and the new 165,000 square foot Surrey City Hall that opened in February 2014. The future Performing Arts Centre will be mid-block and will house a 1,600 seat theatre and a 250 studio theatre. These projects are estimated to cost $500 million. Currently under construction is a 52 storey mixed-use hotel and residential project called 3 Civic Plaza. This location will also house a 30,000 SF Kwantlen Polytechnic University Satellite Campus.
